Getting 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and
8.3/10 on IMDb isn’t shocking, I mean were talking about Tom Cruise here. Yet
another mind blowing thriller film/action pack movie. How the director (Christopher McQuarrie)
of this particular movie managed to create a blockbuster with a cliché story
we
see time and time again; literally 4 times just goes to show why he’s the only
one who has ever directed 2 movies from the franchise.
Please Note: I’m writing about the
movie and so if you’ve not seen the movie ‘Mission impossible; fallout’, you
should probably stop here.
That said…
So two years after the capture of
Solomon Lane, the leader of the ‘syndicate’ a terrorist group known
as "the Apostles" arose. Ethan Hunt is given a mission to intercept
three stolen plutonium cores from getting to the apostles. He joins Benji and Luther
for the mission, but they fail when Ethan saves Luther's life and the plutonium
is taken by the Apostles.
PS: A phone controlled car was
featured at this scene which was cool but we’ve seen before in the James Bond franchise.
CIA Director instructs our (double agent superman) Special Activities Division
operative August Walker (Henry Cavil) to
put Ethan on check as he attempts to retrieve the plutonium.
The sky diving scene where Ethan
saves august was mad crazy and then August parachutes down and mocks Ethan for
losing his oxygen tank like Ethan didn’t just save his ass. Then they
infiltrated a fundraiser party in Paris where Lark is believed to be buying the
cores from an arms dealer known as the White Widow. Ooo I loved her silk and
cotton dresses I just couldn’t take my eyes off her. Well they tracked Lark who
is killed. Ethan had to impersonate Lark and meet the stunning White Widow.
(PS: I was a bit jealous when she kissed Ethan). Walker passes evidence on to his
boss (CIA director) suggesting that Hunt has always been Lark because well
that’s what double agents do. In order to secure the plutonium, the White Widow
tasks Ethan with extracting Lane (leader of the syndicate group) in exchange
for the plutonium cores. Ilsa attempts to kill Lane to prove her loyalty to
MI6. The mission to extract Lane is successful and White Widow instructs the
team to deliver Lane to London. At a
safe house in London, IMF Secretary Hunley confronts Ethan about being John
Lark. Ethan denies it and had to inject him with one cool devise so he could
continue the mission. Now here’s the plot cliché twist…
The team trick Walker
into admitting he is the real John Lark. Now this scene is where I just had to
scream impossible because they had benji on a mask of lane’s face and had him
walk out with the next scene showing August entering to talk to lane as the
person hes working for the Ethan comes in with a gun pointed at him while benji rips the mask of his face
showing he was the one in the room originally… like how the hell did they make
that switch! Magic. Well, Walker is
working with Lane and the Apostles as part of a plot to acquire the plutonium
and have Ethan branded a nuclear terrorist. The IMF team inform the CIA
secretary, who instructs a CIA unit to detain everyone including Ethan and the
rest of his team, INSANE! Well a thrilling gun fight occurs. Walker kills
Hunley in the ensuing fight and escapes. Ethan chases him across the city, with
benji guiding his way to walker with a tracking devise. Walker threatens Ethan
with the life of Ethan's ex wife the ever beautiful Julia so Ethan had to free
him. Walker departs for a medical camp with a plan set to ensure a third of the
world’s population affected, Lane hopes a new world order will emerge. Walker
has arranged for Julia to be assigned to the medical camp, making Ethan job
harder.
Lane activates the weapons and gives the detonator to Walker who leaves
on a helicopter and guess what ethan does? Ethan pursues him in a helicopter,
leaving Benji, Luther, and Ilsa to find the weapons. Julia helps out Luther in
defusing the first bomb (basically cutting a wire and waiting for Ethan to get
his hands on the detonator). Ilsa and Benji locate the second weapon and subdue
Lane . Ethan uses his helicopter to ram Walker's aircraft out of the sky after
a ridiculous mid air one sided gun fight. The two fight on a cliff edge and
Walker is killed in the most gory and unexpected manner. Ethan gains control of
the detonator, allowing Luther, Ilsa, and Benji to deactivate the bombs.
In the aftermath, the remaining two
cores are safely recovered. Sloane hands Lane over to MI6 through the White
Widow, which earns Ilsa's exoneration. Ethan recovers from his injuries with
the help of Julia while the rest of the team joins him in victory.
MY REVIEW FOR THIS MOVIE
Well it showed the more human side
of Ethan though he still won a fight against superman; lol. It’s a very good
movie if you want a taste of a really good action movie! I had a friend digging
her fingers into my skin during the fight scenes... Yeah they were that good 😅. McQuarrie did
a good job giving a wonderful plot leaving us at the edge of awe. I think the
mission impossible franchise has done a great job in keeping the action alive
up till now all thanks to Tom Cruise who has helped a great deal though I’m now
at the tipping point and would not be as enthusiastic seeing another movie from
this franchise.
I loved this movie!! !It absolutely love the White widow's voice. And the end cliff scene where his head was shattered. Pure disgusting awesomeness!! Amazing review!!!
