Ant-man and the wasp review

First things first, this is a marvel movie and like all the recent movies of the marvel cinematic universe, it is expected to be good, and it is.

Disclaimer: if you haven't seen the movie and you don't like

spoilers, please don't read the rest now, go see it and come back, but if you have seen it or don't mind, then enjoy.

The movie is directed by Peyton Reed( the same guy that directed the first Ant-man) and stars Paul Rudd (as Ant-man) an ex-con basically trying to get his life together and Evangeline Lilly (as wasp) the partner and love interest of Paul.

 

So how did I see this movie, well, on a Wednesday morning after doing my morning stuff, decided to look at the cinema's website and see what's showing, then I came across the movie, well ... it had been out for a while, so there wasn't a need to make reservations and because it was a rather old movie (in cinema years) it didn't have a good time slot, and the only available time was the afternoon, well I didn't mind so yeah went to see it.

So the setting of the movie is after the captain America's civil war, with captain America forming a team to fight against iron man and his team in Berlin. Ant-man fought along side captain America and since they went against international codes, he is arrested and placed on house arrest. Meanwhile the FBI is looking for Hope pym ( the wasp) and her dad to also arrest them because they think they are his associates and were involved in offenses. 

 

This leads to tension in their relationship and Hope and her father go into hiding. Meanwhile Hope and her father are working on getting her mom back ( from the first movie, we saw that the mother shrunk so much on a mission that she got lost in the quantum realm, but ant-man was able to shrink into quantum realm and come back, so they believe they could get her back).

Meanwhile while still on house arrest, he gets vision and believes he had contact with Hope's mom so he contacts her and her father, this makes them bring him to work with them. So back in history a bit, when Hope pym's dad Hank still worked for SHIELD, he wasn't the most easy guy to work with, and he got rid of people that opposed him, one of the scientist he got rid of continued working after he left and a fatal accident in his lab caused him and his wife to die, and their daughter got mutated, with her molecular structure becoming unstable, she becomes know as ghost because of her ability. 

 

Hank tried to create a portal to the quantum realm so he can get back his wife, while she tried to steal from him and connect to the quantum realm because she believes she can find cure to her problem from the quantum energy.

Due to being fugitive from the law and well for the sake of it, Hope and her dad patronizes the black market to get supply for the portal and also the lab, they get double crossed by their dealer when he finds out they are wanted and also that he can benefit from having more control to their lab, they fight and ghost interferes and steals the lab from Hope and her dad ( yeah the lab is a shrinkable building), remember she needed connection to the quantum realm as well.

They go through quite a lot to get the lab back, eventually getting it, and remember the ant-man is an ex-con, and had struggled to get a job since his release, so he and some of his ex-con friends form a security company which they call ex-con, so the black market dealer, traces Hope, through ant-man to his company, and tires to get information on where to find her and her dad, ghost gets involved. At this moment, he decided that if he can't get it straight forward, he would by other means and he calls the FBI to give them a tip on Hope and her dad's whereabouts in exchange for the lab, well, it doesn't go well, as ghost steals the lab again, while Hope and her dad are arrested.

 

Ant-man rescues them from prison, and they devise a plan to get back the lab, they trick ghost and captures the man helping her ( well he is more important than I make him to be), and now she chases them, the black market dealer joins the chase, eventually he finds them and steals the lab, meanwhile Hank shrinks and goes through the portal to the quantum realm to get his wife, eventually the lab is recovered again, and Hank returns with his wife, since the years she spent in the quantum realm, she has acquired some powers and she helps ghost to recover, and well everyone is more or less happy. They decide to send ant-man back to the quantum realm to get more energy for ghost treatment, and while in the quantum realm, thanos snaps his finger, wiping half the world, Hank, his wife and Hope are gone and ant-man is trapped in quantum realm. 

Review: it was an overall good movie, personally didn't enjoy it as much as the first one tho but the cast did well, good chemistry, and a lot of cheap jokes, would not say it's a 'must see', but a good one to see if you don't want to regret spending time and money.
